It's Private Capital Management.
Private Capital Management took a big position in AZR, Aztar, in late 2005 / early 2006. AZR was selling for around $30 at the time.
On 3/13/06, Pinnacle Entertainment bid $38 cash for AZR. In May 2006, AZR agreed to be acquired for $54 cash by Columbia Sussex.
Private Capital also has big stakes in several other casino companies. I think they own stakes in BYD and MGM.
KC now why would anyone call you a skeptic????
It must be tough getting out of bed everyday with that attitude of yours!! Good Luck to you.
That is correct, private cap. Did just buy a huge chunk of shfl...he has a 6th sense,if i may, about gaming stocks.
i followed him on his buy on mgm at 18 a share. Now in the 70's and he also just bought byd. and guess what...so did i ...he really knows how to pick winners...gl to all
gaming equipment is a entirely different ball game.
casino investing couldn't have been more easy over the last few years. most everyone on this board has made a fortune in the operators. jeez, it has been nearly impossible to miss. sorry if i'm not impressed by any accomplishment in a super-sexy and trendy sector that has benefited from a raging economy and historically low interest rates.
Their Shuffle Master holding seems to be new. I cannot find any Shuffle Master in

Private Capital's filing says that the date when the filing requirement was triggered was 2/28/07.
I think that means that they owned 5.0% of SHFL as of 2/28/07. If I'm right on that, then they were buying SHFL in the $20s.
And then they more than doubled their position, in terms of number of shares, after 2/28/07.
That's my interpretation. I could be wrong.
Good to know! I've bought more and now break even at $19.70. I think we can see $30 again, might have to wait a year or two though.
