    $I billion charge, ouch !

Getting rid of some old people, and dead wood.

AT&T got rid of the old and dead two years ago. Just inexperienced young non producers going this time.

    • Don't be so sure about who is going...depends on the content of the severance. If $1B/10,000 = $100K, that goes along way on multipliers of the cash value pension per person....could be some older non-producers as well. And our company is big on equality, wouldn't they feel that they have to open the option to leave to more "good" people as well, lots of them are pining away for a good financial reason to finally get out.

Wonder why so many are pining for a way out of T if things are so great? IMHO, if they offer buyouts to all takers, the better employees will likely jump first because they have the best prospects to find new jobs equal or better to T's and probably with better prospects.

What does that leave behind? And good luck instilling confidence of a great future career with T in replacement candidates. Doesn't sound like a good way to improve the company.

In fact, could be beginning a vicious downward spiral of talent - and they aren't exactly starting at a very high altitude. No wonder CMA is parachuting out.

All of those looking to take the money and run have already done so. The ones that are left either cannot afford to leave or are retired on the job. Thgose doing the work are the ones that will leave.
