The profit has already been taken out of interlata LD. Having the RBOCs get into that business isn't going to help their bottom lines especially since most don't have their own interlata networks to carry the traffic. We still have a few years before we have to worry about them.
The business market is what the RBOCs are after. Without LD authority nationwide they can't offer national business customers an end-to-end product. When they get the authority they'l take a share of the business market from the LD carriers.
more easier said than done,rboc's are begining to see the light,not much money in residential l.d,not much in the local side either in the yrs to come,AT&T is way ahead of the game they may surprise people far as the business revenue is concerned,they won't give up business customer's without a hell of an fight!!
