AT&T IMPROVES PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT CAPABILITIES FOR NETWORK-BASED MPLS VPNS AT&T introduced service enrichments that allow businesses to view, measure and manage the performance of their network-based Internet protocol (IP) virtual private network (VPN) applications just as they can with frame-relay and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) data services. AT&Ts new network-performance capabilities, including class of service validation, are available with IP-Enabled Frame Relay (IPFR) service, one of AT&Ts network-based IP VPNs. AT&T also has improved service level agreements (SLAs) for its IPFR, frame-relay and ATM services by extending them to the digital service units at customers sites. The options are available immediately throughout the United States and will be available internationally over the next year.
Big deal...the web hosting companies put out the similar news releases when they were trying to generate revenue from the same kind of nonsense. The product generates very little additional revenue...if any...and its a product easily matched by the competition. Basically, its not worth the cost of maintaining an new-product engineering group if this is all they can come up with.
