ATT wants to dump as much of the wireline business as possible. Right now they are cutting techs, and missing due dates. After April 2nd, many techs will be gone due to early retirement. Company is missing hundreds of orders today without the retirements. IMHO, Frontier will be able to buy parts of ATT's lucrative business in California before the year is out.
If they brought even some of the shuttered call centers back into this state, many customers would be grateful, no matter who they belonged to.
I talked to someone in an engineering support group in San Ramon today; she said that if they want to follow their work they'll be going to Florida.
The once touted super center for NorCal- referred to as "The Death Star" at one time for the little mail robots that roamned its halls- is a ghost town.
It's incomprehensible- at this point, it almost looks like they bought Pacific Bell just to drive all the employees away- ensuring there was no one left to resurrect a company that once made 60% of SBC's revenues. Weird war on a corporate scale.
