Who cares what you think you need? Why do you think the government would care?
Do you expect them to supply you with free energy? You think you need X amount of energy, so the government should supply it?
I know how much energy I need. I track my electric bills, I watch my gasoline consumption closely, and I heat with natural gas and keep the thermostats low in the winter and higher in the summer to cut the electric bill.
In spite of all these efforts all of my energy costs continue to rise. I have added extra insulation. I have purchased vehicles with higher mileage rating than I have ever owned.
And guess what, unless big brother is spying on me they have no idea what my energy needs are they only think that they need to increase the costs so I will use even less. They waste money on projects that repeatedly fail and serve only to increase my tax bill. But the all-wise and ever-knowing government tells me that the economy is getting better because gas prices are getting higher, but there is no inflation. Yeah, right!
If you think the government KNOWS what I need more than I do, you're a bigger fool than you appear even on this board.
>>>Expanded production according to a free market should reduce the cost of product
If supply expands more than demand and if the cost of producing the new supply is cheaper than the current price. Most demand growth is external, and the extremes we are going to get new supply (oil shale, oil sands and deepwater drilling) should indicate to you that our supply options are limited.
>>>The government doesn’t know how much energy I need.
Neither do you. You think you need alot, or deserve alot, or the government should just give you free gas for your 1.5 hour daily commute in your gas guzzler and you shouldn't have to think about it. From the way you are talking about this, I can tell you are a boomer. Those days are gone. Forever.
You didn't prepare for this as a society, and you apparently did not prepare for it as an individual. As a society, we are working very hard to ensure that the next generations are not dependent on cheap oil. You, however, have made your own bed.
Hey dipstick, how do you suppose the government 'lowered the amount of energy you need'?
The government doesn’t know how much energy I need.
This expansion of domestic production is technically correct, but the increase is negligible at best.
Expanded production according to a free market should reduce the cost of product...the old supply versus demand theory. Instead Dear Leader has increase production and the cost continues to climb.
That's how free markets work. Under Obama we have expanded domestic production, including alternatives to oil, and lowered the amount of energy you need.
What else, I wonder, do you expect government to do for you?
"This isn't a one day fix, and the price you pay for energy is ultimately your responsibility."
The total value of my energy bills would be based on my usage, correct; the price I am forced to pay for each gallon or kilowatt or BTU of energy is being manipulated by Wall Street, Arabs and our Federal government and I have little or no say over that price. While I am forced to pay for gasoline to get to work to pay my energy and other bills, the government has decided that I need to pay more so I will use less. The problem is that I cannot work less.
