I'd say step one is by not unilaterally imposing a narrow concept of freedom on America.
The burden is on you to prove ANY idea is outside of the American concept of freedom before we condemn it in the name of freedom. It is not up to Huerta, socialists or anyone else to justify their freedom to think what they think.
Huerta spent her life seeking justice and equality under the law for a group of people that were denied it. That is worthy of commemoration, whether you agree with her political ideology or not.
