Retirees....what are your thoughts on the company not having a healthcare plan in effect for retirees in 2014 and beyond? Are you happy with the large monthly premiums for 2013???? A 500% premium rise........
More information please Splicer. Where did you get this 2014 cessation of health care plan from? I haven't heard anything about it.
I don't how much our 2013 premiums will be yet, but I do know it costs $77.00 monthly currently for me and my wife with Kaiser South Senior Advantage California with catastrophic care included.
While premiums have gone up and down over the years, it has never been more than $100.00 for me alone prior to my wife becoming Medicare eligible.
With the $72.00 Medicare rebate check I get from State Street (as required by Federal law) every month, I don't consider my plan to be all that bad. If you are aware of the plan being discontinued, kindly post a link.
The employees ask. If Randy keeps increasing the dividends every year on over 6 billion shares and adding another 200 million dollars to the already 10 billion dollar payout . To show everyone what a good job he is doing as CEO . Oneday, T can no longer cut employee benefits enough to pay the dividends and his perks at the same time .......and we all know he isn't going to cut his benefit plan trying to show wallstreet what a good job he is doing
It is true. I have talked to several retirees. If you are married and not on medicare yet and your spouse is not covered at work by their insurance you pay $110.00 for you and $110.00 for the spouse.
All companies are going to have to charge more as healthcare cost outpace our economy.
Remember if you do not like your healthcare plan you can chose Obamacare.
Support him, and his caring plan, just incase Romney takes things SOUTH again.
This is an old message board but we just got our costs from AT&T for our healthcare 2013. It tripled! $220+ for one dependent (wife). No prior warning. Anyone else freaking out???? Husband retired in 2008. We're worried. We're on a fixed income.
Everyone has suffered since Obama has taken office. The fixed income will shrink because inflation will expand dramatically in 2013/2014. The government doesn't measure food & energy in inflation. #$%$. Bernanke has and will keep interest down until 2014 so those retires depending on dividends & interst income won't see a decent return for a long time.
The worst case will be the soaring health costs when obamacare fully kicks in. God help us.
reality check: it would cost you $800-1000 per month if you had to pay for good health insurance like you have. so, appreciate it. until we come to terms with the future costs and move to an efficient system for universal coverage we will be paying a lot more and more and more...
Ditto on that for the same premium notice I received for my wife and I. $220 from around seventy something dollars per month and it says "after taxes" whatever that means?? I thought the affordable healthcare act was going to lower our premiums since they went down last year I thought after it passed. I just do not understand why all of a sudden retirees are expected to come up with such a huge amount per month. I was under the understanding that is why we earned what we did while we worked with the understanding our retiree healthcare premiums would be kept available and affordable.
"During 2013, AT&T will continue to provide access to comprehensive health care coverage including choices that allow you to tailor coverage to your individual needs. The health care coverage provided by AT&T is heavily subsidized by the company – the average retired bargained employee pays less than half of the national average for medical costs on a percentage basis. The company will continue to move toward a market level subsidy for retirees. The company reserves the right to make changes after 2013, and make any necessary adjustments as a result of changes in the law."
Just got my retiree premium that went from seventy something a month for myself and wife to around $220. So, please tell me this is a screwup somewhere. Oh I forgot, retirees are "not allowed to be bargained for". Talk about getting pitched under the bus.
Somebody has to pay for Big Ed Whitacre's monthly use of the AT&T corporate jet and his family healthcare for life perks when he retired. And don't forget the 100 million dollar retirement package he got. Remember he was a part of the "Texas Mafia" when he ran SBC and then AT&T. After Randall screwed the pooch on the T-Mobile deal that cost a 4 billion dollar payment, look for us retirees paying for this next year.
Let them know your concerns. It is the squeaking wheel that gets the grease. If you do not get what you want switch to Verizon or some other carrier. Also talk to people about their Romney type values of profit, profit, over all other concerns.
