    Is this our October surprise?

“These are the employment numbers ‘furnished’ by the Administration & aren't entirely true. Make a mental note, this is the beginning of the holiday season ... part time & temp. employment are becomming (sic) readily available.” – jon who will say anything regardless of accuracy

    AP – Today, October 5th
“The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent LAST MONTH, dropping below 8 percent for the first time in nearly four years.”

Note, jon, this being October, the numbers were from LAST MONTH – that would be SEPTEMBER. Here are five different sources, preeminently more qualified than you to discuss when the Holiday hiring season begins. I know you look forward to the two month break from your cubicle each year, but you can put your elf costume away for another couple months or so – and, once again, please stop your persistent lying. It’s very unbecoming.

“Phil Neighbors, president and chief executive officer of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, said unemployment rates usually drop mid-November to mid-January as holiday retail hiring gets under way.”

“…hiring picks up in October as the holidays get closer.”

Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren in a press release. “Hiring starts in mid-October”

“Kohl's may do some additional hiring in December, she said.”

According to the National Retail Federation: "Retailers began hiring in September, although the jobs may not start until November," reports Daniel Butler with the NRF.
