I've had them for about 4 years. Two years ago I was still happy with their service. Has now deteriorated to a PITIFUL level. Often I can't "connect" and when I can it performs slowly, if at all, unless of course I go on in the middle of the night. That's when I sleep.
They have to do something about the bandwidth hogs.
Prior to when the government broke up AT&T at divestiture, T was a regulated monopoly and the various public service commisions and FCC would not allow that to happen. Now that T is unregulated with competition, you are "allowed" to go elsewhere for your service.
If they are unwilling to satisfy that demand, they will have alot of unhappy customers. The days of unlimited plans is near. If they raise the prices for bandwidth hogs, it might actually drive some people back to cable, DISH, or Direct TV.
Don't know where you are at but I had AT&T DSL in the San Diego area until Aug. I've moved since. But, I had no complaints with service or speed. AT&T is not available where I am in Arizona. I have Centel now and it too is OK.
I'm sure AT&T monitors this board. Tell them where you live and I bet they will respond. AT&T covers the World and, if you contact them, they will probably adjust your bill for the lack of service and put your area on their "to do" list.
I don't think it works that way with dsl so much, cable yes. Call them and have them check it. If you go to another isp, they still go through the same att lines under contract I believe, pretty much there is one carrier or the other owning the lines. Mine works great for years. Get U verse if you can.
