Might be time for a moment of prayer for the good people of Chicago

Chicago police just confirmed the 500th homicide in their city for the year.

IMHO this is very sad, and my prayers go out to the victims and their families.

Hopefully someone in the media will give this some attention, or did Dr. Cornel West have a point?

    I guess we will see.

    • I feel better now.

After reading about the crime problems in Chicago and the state's fiscal issues (i.e., $100 billion deficit).

I read today that our "dear leader" is finally taking a stand and advising Illinois law makers to legalize gay marriage.

I'm sure the good people of Chicago will be comforted by his support.

    • More proof of MSM's selection process in reporting tragedy.

On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. Just thought you’d like to know.

Except for how its different. The gunman was targeting specific people whom he chased from the restaurant across a parking lot and into a theater. He was armed with a pistol, not a semi-automatic assault rifle. If either of those differences weren't true, this gunman would have killed alot of people.

There was also an on-duty uniformed police officer in the parking lot. Yet this gunman managed to shoot people in a restaurant, chase them across the parking lot past the on-duty police officer, into a theater, fire shots in the theater and search a bathroom before being shot when he exited the bathroom. Shots were fired in the restaurant, the parking lot and the theater.

So, the statement that he was shot before he had "a chance" to kill anyone simply is not true. He had plenty of chances to kill plenty of people. He simply chose not to kill the available targets or failed to kill the targets he did fire on. He clearly had plenty of chances to kill alot of people.

So, what I can gather from this is that every time someone shoots someone with a gun, you people will claim there would have been a massacre except for the armed citizenry present. This particular armed citizen was an off duty police officer, Sgt. Lisa Castellano, with thirteen years experience hired by the theater to provide security. She was not simply "at" the theater.
