"Today we continue a never-ending journey, to bridge the meaning of those words with the realities of our time. For history tells us that while these truths may be self-evident, they have never been self-executing; that while freedom is a gift from God, it must be secured by His people here on Earth. The patriots of 1776 did not fight to replace the tyranny of a king with the privileges of a few or the rule of a mob. They gave to us a Republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed. . .
America's possibilities are limitless, for we possess all the qualities that this world without boundaries demands: youth and drive; diversity and openness; an endless capacity for risk and a gift for reinvention. My fellow Americans, we are made for this moment, and we will seize it - so long as we seize it together."
--Barack Hussein Obama, President of the United States of America, Jan. 21, 2013.
“Obama has great writers who know what the people want to hear. Those words in no way reflect Obama's true thinking.”
Oh, good lord, now you nutballs are freakin’ mind readers?? How morose. What a life. Say something really stupid. Get caught. Either deny it or just switch aliases and continue proving how totally ignorant you are.
Thank you, svengali, for revealing the inner workings of mind of the duly elected President of the United States. What is it you do, again? Oh, right...you're doing it. Great credentials.
"They gave to us a Republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed. "
And our modern day politicians have taken it away and turned government service at higher levels into near royalty. They don't hold themselves accountable to the people they are supposed to represent and have little in common with them. They support actions that are in the interests of their large campaign donors, reelection, and their own individual wealth. This is proven by the existence of the wealth 'government servants' leaving government that were not wealthy when they arrived.
Obama's view of the world and our interaction with our government only exacerbate these problems.
You see, fake ricky #2, despite the times in which he lived and the oppression that he faced, Dr. King believed in America--and the Constitution that defines our universal values--with a force and a depth most Americans would be proud to share. It was not a superficial whiff of "christian" or "patriotism" or "right" without meaning that Dr. King embraced. It was a deeply held conviction that, despite its failings, the promise of America is a promise worth pursuing, and, if necessary, worth giving your life for.
"It was not a superficial whiff of "christian" or "patriotism" or "right" without meaning that Dr. King embraced."
Not sure what you are talking about, If you had not noticed Dr. King's was a reverend, he was first and foremost a man of God who preached God's word. There was nothing superficial about his references to the words of the Bible. Dr. King was a Christian first everything else was secondary including his citizenship. His desire was to align the laws and people of the land in which he lived with what the Bible teaches us.
Why did you not give the word Christian the respect it commands and capitalize it?
