7 Million to Lose Insurance Under Obamacare

    ouch! Another Obama lie

President Obama's health care law will push 7 million people out of their job-based insurance coverage — nearly twice the previous estimate, according to the latest estimates from the Congressional Budget Office released Tuesday.

CBO said that this year's tax cuts have changed the incentives for businesses and made it less attractive to pay for insurance, meaning fewer will decide to do so. Instead, they'll choose to pay a penalty to the government, totaling $13 billion in higher fees over the next decade.

Our Healthcare under Obama is in serious decline.
I Had to make a trip to the emergency room at our local hospital. Has anyone else been to the emergency room since Obama took Office? This place had turned into something like you would expect in a third world free clinic. Bus loads of people being dropped off for free non-emergency care while people with urgent care needs wait in line behind those looking for free healthcare. After waiting for almost 3 hrs without seeing a doctor we just left and took our chances with visiting our doctors office the next day.

    • you voted for it folks

    • "CBO said that this year's tax cuts have changed the incentives for businesses and made it less attractive to pay for insurance"

Where do they say that? Or is that just you? ObamaCare hasn't been fully implemented yet. ObamaCare increases incentive, takes pressure off employers, and is good for the Nation. In spite of having been republican idea. Why are you against your parties own concepts? Seems like very strange behavior. Or could it just be blind anti Obama ranting?

      Sentiment: Buy

    • It's starting to leak out now, the terrible truth. Obummer has begun his quest to take away the average worker's health care, via his employer. Here, in our help wanted ads (in the Baltimore Sun), employers now only want to offer a four day work week. This avoids having to provide health care benefits. Wait till he grants amnesty to 20 MILLION plus illegals, no lower skilled Brother will have a chance at a job. Speaking Spanish, being bil-lingual will mean most Government jobs will go to illegals. Riots will erupt, once lower skilled Americans finally figure it out.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • Yes, in our major cities, this has been going on for sometime. Way back in 89, I had to take my Mom (a cancer patient), to Johns Hopkins ER. The entire Department was over run with heroin addicts, with stomach cramps. Our Dem Governor, then Baltimore City Mayor, O'Malley, welcomes illegals, who have flooded our city with cheap, Mexican Brown heroin. Now, it's worse, our current Dem Mayor, Rawlings-Blake, has set a target of 10,000 illegal families, to repopulate Bmore. Seems its getting harder to get free Federal money with a shrinking poulation. None of these people pay taxes, but demand it all, free. We get the Government we vote for, therefore deserve. Can't way till the libs get it there way. Gun control, confiscation, is under way here. Yuppie libs make such an easy target for these illegal alien criminals, with their smart phones, and their save the world mentality.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

      • It is greWe get the Government we vote for, therefore deserve.at to have robfisk back. Comedy has been missing. The board is too much sour apples. But he unwittingly (how else) speaks the truth for once. with this: "We get the Government we vote for, therefore deserve." I am sure he would agree that when we had GWB (I know, I know) making torture cool and destroyin jobs at the rate of up to 600,000 per month along with enriching the real repubs this is what we deserved. Now that Obama (of course the president does everything) is repairing the economy and executing the job the right wing wanted with the war on terrists (that is how he said it), rob is incensed. Que?

    • When all is said and done, that 7 million figure is likely to be much greater, wait till 2017 to start the big drop in those covered. They will need to participate through the fee structure. What a mess!

    • Health Insurance in general and Obama care in particular is not a good idea. It ads too much to your doctor bill and creates too many opportunities to cheat. In fact many procedures being done now would be considered unnecessary if patients were paying their own way. But, since they have insurance, why not use it?

      • Saw a video today were Rand Paul says that the Senate has passed bills that will change how Obama Care is paid for. Part of the money was to come from the interest on student loans. The bill passed was to charge students 6%, now that bill has been changed to reduce the interest rate to 3% but nothing was done about making up the lost revenue that was noted to help pay for Obama Care. You see Congress doesn't plan things well, or maybe they do, but they apparently don't have a clue and no mechanism to keep track of their monetary promises or rules. And that is just one example of the stupidity that occurs in Washington.

    • quit it with the Fox News C & @ P stuff.

    • "CBO said that this year's tax cuts have changed the incentives for businesses and made it less attractive to pay for insurance"

That's true. But it has nothing to do with Obamacare. The tax break for employer-sponsored health insurance has always been there. The incentives for businesses change whenever the tax code changes. The higher the taxes, the bigger the payoff from any tax loophole, including the health insurance tax break.

The CBO's projections for the law never really changed. All of the people who lost employer coverage due to the Bush tax cuts did so in 2002 & 2003. The CBO had projected that when those cuts expired (which was "current law"), more employers would offer health insurance. Since those tax cuts have been made permanent by Obama, those employers will not offer health insurance.

You're arguing over projections here, not reality. No additional people are going to lose health insurance. What is really happenning is that people who lost health insurance due to health insurance tax effects of the Bush tax cuts will now have access to insurance on the exchanges or Medicaid.

"Bus loads of people being dropped off for free non-emergency care"

While I know that you're just lying (you can't even be truthful about an anonymous alias!), you are actually pointing out a problem Obamacare will fix. By law, ERs have to examine patients regardless of their ability to pay, so people without insurance often go to ERs for care. It's really their only choice, but it is actually very, very expensive to treat people for minor ailments in ERs. These visits are covered by taxpayers. But if you provide people with insurance, they go to see a physician, which is much cheaper. Obamacare will reduce the number of uninsured by 34 million people. That is 34 million people with better health at a lower cost to taxpayers.

This is, btw, already working in Massachusetts. It is one of the major reasons Romney pushed for Romneycare there. I have to say, he had the right idea on that one.

      • "That's true. But it has nothing to do with Obamacare"
What a lie, it has everything to do with Obamacare that brougt about changes that will cause employers to drop employee coverage and lay people off to avoid the expense of Obamacare.

"You're arguing over projections here, not reality. No additional people are going to lose health insurance."
What do you know about reality? You live in the a marijuana induced haze of Obama world . The reality is these projections are optimistic it is really going to be much worse.

"Obamacare will reduce the number of uninsured by 34 million people. That is 34 million people with better health at a lower cost to taxpayers."

During the debate over his health care reform proposal, President Barack Obama and his apologists in Congress insisted that it would hold down insurance premiums for American families. But despite these promises, Jonathan Gruber, the architect of the plan, acknowledged that insurance premiums would rise considerably under ObamaCare resulting in less people being insured.

So it comes as no surprise to see read an IRS report released last week showing that the cheapest health insurance plan under ObamaCare will cost a family $20,000 in 2016:
