I retired 4 months ago. Didn't see a reason to stay. No regrets so far. I miss the work but not the stress. Took the lump sum and gave it to an investor and then left my 401k with fidelity. It's a scary financial decision but now that it's done I'm glad I left. When the spring rains hit, I may apply for a temp job to help out,, but then again,, why would I want to work in the bad weather?
Their offer for the future appears to be: You can quit now, while you still have a retirement, or we will make it miserable for you to keep working. On top of that, we will figure out ways to take away 20-40% of your retirement. It is age discrimination, but you will not be able to prove it.
