Immigrants are more efficient than any organization -- foreign or domestic -- doing charitable work in the countries we come from. Yet, unlike charitable organizations, we can't deduct that money from our tax burden.
From the tax returns I have prepared for immigrants it appears that the "charities" you refer to are relatives and they are listed as dependents even if they only sent them a few bucks. THEY GET ALL THE TAX BREAKS THEY CAN INVENT.
why should charitable work in another country be exempted from income in the USA? Your logic please? Is charitable work in any country a deduction from taxes in other than ones home country? Are your charitable contributions a financial decision or a human needs response?
