    • They can't believe T isn't above the law. They think T is as powerful as MSFT

    • Makes sense to Me too. T received flak the first time SBC was considered, but the atmosphere has changed re acquisions ie SBC and New England tel, and the recent decission alowing the RBOCS to move into Long Distance. The Merger of SBC and T is now doable. It almost seems planed --what better way to solve the problem of what to do about T, the most widely held stock by so many "voters."

    • thanks for enlightening me about happy. I
figured he was just an old T booster from
WE days, but now I'm sure he's just an old
hanger-on. I figured him out when he
didn't know the difference between cash
flow and free cash flow. Armstrong will
certainly be licking his chops at the
      thought of slashing T's outlandish
dividend -- that will really send happy
      running for the defibrilator.

See how much fun we have to look forward
      to?

You guys are tops :) happy :(

    • Allen floated that balloon and it popped. I still remember an article in the WSJ that Allen wrote sobbing that Ma Bell was dead and to let her rest. What would be different today?

    • 1. GTE has a lot of phone lines. That's a plus.
      2. GTE is prodominantly in rural areas. That's a weakness.
      3. AT&T needs local facilities in the densely populated metropolitan areas.
      4. GTE has a high cost structure.

If AT&T gets desperate enough, maybe they consumer GTE. But T would much rather have a major RBOC like SBC or BellSouth.

    • where is the true value of T ? When long distance (LD)company like MCI, SPRING ,LCI enter competetion market, T lost customer? When RBOC enter LD market , LD company lost money? When internet phone enter competiton whole the bell company will lost market?
Probably, no body can save old technology which will die soon or later?........ Only customer smiling for low rates.

    • Something is in the wind but I feel the stock will move more towards its current true value first. To many loyal people own ATT and wouldn't sell T if they new for a fact it was going down to 10- Duh its a loss only on paper I'll wait 10 years at 1% for it to go back up.

    • I'll post only down 4292.19 not a good day.I'll post agin fri. or sat.

    • Up $3220.52 on day # one. Even t is up today.
