Live cattle were way over sold this winter.. (See COW's chart) By october your pasture's are grazed off, and in my area oct 15 most open range (goverment land)is the time you have to have your cattle off. Many rancher's do a lot of selling at this time. Last year the selling begain a little early due to drought and wild fire's. Also adding to the heavy selling was the price of feed. We all know what happened to the price of corn, But alot of hay ground was now growing corn. the price of hay more than doubled in my area. Many herd's were culled way down , the extra hay sold for a nice profit. Our local auction's were more than 2x in the number of cattle sold to feed lot's. prices have fallen hard due to the heavy selling, it's spring now pasture's are greening up and the range is open selling to the feed lot's has all but stoped. AND It's BAR-B-Q time. Pardon my spellen, Gata go my fingure hurt's!!!!
HAY ODY, I'm in Beaver county,I'v already cut my head count way down last fall when feed prices jumped up.
Suggestion:http://www.producerslivestock.com/ It's in Salina, Click on market report then click on Salina, they will have a few there for sure. If you got a little extra pasture i'd bid on the pairs you darn near get a free cow.
