hmmm, cftc votes for position limits on
28 commodities today by 3 to 2. it passed.
it will be interesting to see how cow acts
the next few days and weeks. don't know many
of the details except that cattle and hogs is
included and that the limits may be phased in or delayed for 60 days.
now as this applies to cattle and hogs i'd say the vast majority of interest in these contracts is by the big 4. In an attempt to keep prices low. Now that position limits will be put into effect it will be much tougher for them to keep the prices down. as opposed to say gold or silver where the big interest has been to influence higher prices.
may see some fireworks in "cow" over the next few months, along with gipsa rule--soon the real price of proteins is gonna float to the surface.
something tells me these guys been making a pretty penny in the futures markets by keeping prices low--as that helps their real business margins. so to say they make a profit or its considered a loss leader to keep overall prices low for their real business.
I think the big 4 packers are shaking in their boots, and are gonna have to clean up their positions starting--well--starting this week. by clean up---i mean buy or cover shorts
    and that means--higher prices.
big day, big week, may be a huge year.
