I am a new shareholder as of today. Several things impressed me... and I didn't even know they were getting a fat rate hike. The merger was a big part of my choice but my starting point was the S&P strong buy recommendation for BOTH FPL and CEG. In Minnesota, my utility also started a big rate increase, by Minnesota standards. Also a PUC appointed by a republican governor. I plan to send a letter in in opposition.
Hey moron have you checked the price of natural gas lately? Thats why your power prices are increasing. We stopped building nuclear plants because of the nuclear bogeyman, you won't allow them to build coal plants because of emission concerns, then you bitch when the price of power goes through the roof. The facts are we are overly dependent on natural gas for fuel. Are you really that stupid to blame it on the power company? They just gave you what you asked for. Over the last 20 years all the public and politicians have allowed to be built here is NG fired facilities now its time to pay the piper. Your right "SUCK IT UP".
That's telling it the way it is! Excellent message. Since you have an ability to sxplain it the way it is, how about addressing the "purchase" of Constellation Energy. The previous comments go something like this ..."how can they afford to buy this company and they can't even afford to repair the poles the hurricane blew down". Go for it, and explain why this stock deal has nothing to do with rate increases due to hurricane damage.
