I think it would be interesting to compare electricity rates from different places. Perhaps Florida would realize what a good deal they get from FPL.

The average FPL customer pays $107 for 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, compared with $125 for Tampa Electric and $120 for Progress Energy, according to data compiled by the Florida Municipal Electric Association.
You really need to compare regional data since power markets vary drastically from state to state.
I'm a customer of FPL and I have no problems with the cost or service. I've been fortunate to live in many different places in our country and FPL has been one of the most reliable providers that I have purchased from.

I have no opinion on whether one should hold the stock. I don't except for what may be in US stock funds I own...
105 kWh at 12.74 for 12 cents/kWh
however I pay a premium (yes, extra) for 90% of my electric use. $1.09 for 90 kWh or an extra 1.2 cents.
$0.127 kWh for fossil fuel and nuclear electricity
$0.139 kwh for wind power from the eastern plains of NewMexico.
However, the actual rate is 7.3 cents/kWh - the markup is due to the customer charge and taxes and all the hidden charges that corporations charge.

Please post your location, the electric company, kwh used on last bill, total bill (including all taxes and fees) resulting in "X" cost per kwh.
Here is FPL rates:
First 1000 kWh of fuel is: 0.038570 plus non-fuel charge over 1000 kWh used is: 0.046190 for a total of: 0.08476 per kWh (if you keep it under 1000 kWh).
Over 1000 kWh of fuel is: 0.048570 plus non-fuel charge over 1000 kWh used is: 0.057210 for a total of: 0.10575 per kWh.
My new bill this month came out at 0.09867469879 per kWh for 2158 kWh used for a total of $212.94 plus a $99 fuel credit.
