    APPL TV and DIS

Two well known facts are AAPL's pursuit of the TV market and DIS's lucrative content. It is only a matter of time before these two entities will be at the bargaining table to bring DIS content to AAPL platform. The question of course is, how the deal would be structured and how equitable it would be for shareholders of either firm.

I look forward to the forum's views of this topic.

    • You're on to something. I have been thinking the same thing. What if Apple could do the same thing to TV. content that they've done to music with their IPod, IPhone platform? It's been a plus for the music industry. A company like Disney could gain a lot more control over their products using Apples tech know how and tight security of what goes out over the Apple environment. Apple runs a VERY tight ship. I'm guessing that movie content over the Apple platform might be better than the cable companies and Netfex. But who knows I'm just speculating with no technological knowledge of what is possible. Like you, I'd like to find out if it's feasible or what the obstacles are.

      • i've been thinking about this very topic as well. AAPL will have the software, most likely the hardware (iTV), but what they don't have is the content. Traditional cable / satellite providers have been the bundlers of that in the past, only to give up some room to the new class (Netflix, Hulu, etc.). That is clearly the way things are going and there is room for Apple to become the leader in this space, particularly given their track record and their $$$ warchest. I actually think it will hurt Netflix in the long run unless they become an acquisition target themselves (though this is probably unlikely if Apple can get the content deals directly from the providers.
