    Yes there is a difference between ignorance and stupidity, but when you know you are ignorant (Insufficient knowledge on a subject) you do not act. To act on something when you do not have sufficient knowledge is stupid.

    Simple example. A person who is ignorant about cars will take a trusted and knowledgeable friend with them when the go car shopping...Ignorant but not stupid.

    Buying stock on a whim without consulting or doing some DD is just plain stupid. Just about every article relating to GM stated the difference between shares and that these ones were most likely worthless....There is no excuse...They were stupid.
