Looks like in March another haircut is coming. My sources tell me another 200 to 300 workers will be let go. I'm startint to wonder if Seagate even plans to keep the Longmont facility? Only time will tell.
Anything is possible but for now that is just a rumor. I know Pittsburgh is laying off in phases but have not heard the same for Longmont. I figured something would happen before June, which would give them time digest the first cut.
I agree that March is too soon for another layoff. I think that June would be far enough out that they would have had time to see how well the cuts that have occurred already are affecting the bottom line.
I think part of the reason that Watkins left the company was that he wanted to do the layoffs all at once, rather than in phases, which is what I think we will see, and the other executives strongly disagreed with him.
the list of "other" places in n.america is not too long they will keep scotts valley, thats where the hot shots hang out, da weather and climate is nice, and besides if and when they need to draw on silicon valley money and talent it is just over the hill okc is going - except for maybe it - for a while anyway the mas (original dec center) is getting eliminated pits (which isn't) a design center is going, going going going gone they got some stuff in milpitas/san jose but nothing like an HDD design center then there is min and longmont - don't need to be too insightful to make a wild guess which will go first
