"While global notebook sales have so far been stagnant, shipments in the second half of 2013 are expected to see large growth from the first half mainly due to the launch of new models and promotions by Intel and Microsoft, chairman Ray Chen for Compal Electronics said at a May 9 investors conference."
With capacity tight as it is, Chaos better hope Chen is wong or they'll need a bigger check
FWIW most in my family prefer PCs-bot new one last week and probably another this summer.
Asia PC growth is healthy and huge potential market. Also Intel and MSFT expected to put strong incentives in place by 2nd half according to Compal.
And don't forget the huge tablet market will produce a significant niche of small form SSHDs that will of course include a HDD.
But of course this is really becoming a Big Data story as much if not more than anything else.
Look at what happened to the ferilizer stocks after their consolidation phase-huge multi-year runups-I owned CF back when. This looks like a similar picture may be about to unfold. If y'all would be so kind as to get the price down 'nuff i'll buy back my trading shares. But the current stable HDD pricing is going to become anything but if there are any changes in demand that the HDD makers have hinted at.
