Naked shorting is criminal and should be banned - agreed.
But that has little to do with ASTI's state of affairs. I got out October 2010 ($5.15 pps) after 3 years in this stock when I saw it going nowhere and strategy / management changing constantly. Just take a look at their income statements for the last 3 years - their net income went from (-$21mm) to (-$106mm).
Shorts are just capitalizing on new longs' hope that it will eventually actually be profitable.
