OT: Any of you guys have an interest in US Geothermal (HTM)?
The recent earnings report and CC and then a property acquisition have caught my eye. Was just wondering if any of you had been watching it for a while. Interesting company. Profitable. Growing. Under $1.
Taking an epic beat down in HTM so far even after averaging down. Still looks like a well run company with a solid portfolio of projects in the works. I guess I'll be averaging down again. Story of my life, but it has almost always worked out well in the end so far.
I jumped in for 10k shares yesterday. I've not completed my DD, but I like what I've seen so far. Profitable on roughly 35MW of capacity, with another 60MW or so in the pipeline. I was recently out in Santa Rosa and took the opportunity to tour the Geysers region. I had no idea geothermal was so prevalent there. Calpine has 15 plants (725MW of capacity) generated electricity there, supplying a large portion of the bay areas electricity. Pretty cool stuff.
No, but many, many moons ago I was in a geothermal company which I think was magma power and maybe something with California in the name. In any case, the estimates for 2015 don't seem like big growth over 2014 but who knows what is not factored into the estimates. It sounds like there is a lot going on and have turned the corner. Do you have any feel for some upside potential??
I just came across HTM the other day, and my impression was similar to yours, it sounds like there is a lot going on and they've turned the corner on profitability. I'll have to research further. And I was in Magma (I think MGMA was the ticker) back in the late 80's maybe(?), and then California Energy (CE) for a while after they acquired MGMA. Was a decent investment. One of my very first.
