Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. Message Board

In 1989 RJ Reynolds, owner of the DelMonte Corp was bought out by KKR. The Del Monte Corp was broken up. FDP is the owner of the brand for worldwide fresh produce, and also owns DM Foods Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The rest of the Del Monte empire was broken into pieces owned by various entities including DM Foods USA, Del Monte Pacific, etc. They all have exclusive use of the DM Quality brand for thier respective products/markets. Quite confusing I agree

Both companies use the Del Monte trademark, but other than that, they are completely different companies.

FDP sells fresh produce. Del Monte Foods sells processed foods like canned fruits and vegetables.
