    • sounds like people are trying to convince themselves. i remain concerned. the volume is huge. the arbs are selling at lower and lower levels. if you were a bank would you finance a company with 18% of its cash flow potentially foregone. in fact, the venezuelen business is negative cash flow. Coke may behind this deal but they will not throw away money. What about FEMSA? rating agencies? remember this stock was $10/share. there is a potential for a cut or no deal. i think the huge spread tells you this. markets are efficient and arbs are good handicappers. if it was a layup..there would be a $0.50 spread at best.

make up your mind, you can't have it both ways, if it's negative then it can't be 18% of anything, in fact what is your source for Venezuela being 18% of the cash flow of the combined new entity..for what time period? operating cash flow? total cash flow?

the only thing that can change the terms of this merger is a downgrade on the prospective debt to be issued to finance it..

will the agencies really consider Venezuela's cash flow permanently impaired as you seem to constantly imply? they're just gonna shut down their plants and never sell Coke in the country again huh? if Chavez got a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court and is not out now he'll be out in a few months..these people aren't stupid, if nothing happens now they'll re-open their factories and stores and get him out later..

I have to agree w/ u that there is more going on than I know about. Certainly the arbs are much better informed, but PB's slow drift seems to indicate even they can't price it perfectly. I'm out and staying away too.

    • me too....great percentage gain for asuch a short hold...the big arbs will get in soon and they will take this baby up over 21 just like that....these are the opportunities that i look for everyday.....
