I have been following Sage's and khemprof1a's idea of making money on the dividends.
Now I am seeing that their talk of dividends does not offset the loss of the stock. Go back and read their posts. Its all about dividends and wait for the turn around. I'm waiting. It's about next quarter. Well we have gone past a few quarters. They were saying why we were gaining last year.
I can see waiting for gains with the dividends coming in but in that CC dividends were not pumped up as much as on this board. I may be mistaken but I did not hear any thing on the change to the nasdaq on the call. I've been looking at the different stock markets and it seems as if FTR went to a lower class one. I though we were a big Ilec now.
How do you explain todays/yesterdays downward move? What is going to happen after xdate? Are we going down again? Many people on the board said we would go down all year. We have, rants? I'm just plain mad at the losses!
Suze, can I way in on some of your rants?
You don't buy telecom for the short term. The day traders have beat it up but that is because they are making some quick cents (change) - versus looking at the real long term picture.
I have been investing in Verizon for many years. We all knew what the company was about, they didn't want land lines they wanted cellular. With that came a lot of capex for investment, beefing up their cell towers, equipment, redundancy, etc.
I think frontier is doing the right thing.. They are following the lead, so to speak, spending a lot of capex up front and it will pay off... trust me.J
I don't read charts very well, but I learnsd my colors a long time ago. It looks to me as though Nas. has been outperforming the others on the graph which you were so kind to have provided. Thanks Sage.
You know, I was just thinking the same thing. XBOX 360 [a very successful MSFT product] and I heard rumors of xbox 720 or something similar is in the works, with a pentium i-core processor.. So yes, don't discount microsoft, ever. They were the pioneers and you mac users out there may disagree with me, but the pirates targeted microsoft's operating system and this IMO was a good thing. why? It just made their development team stronger, analyzing stuff and making their teams stronger... Here's another one to add to my watch list MSFT on the nasdaq...Cheers,J
"Last time I checked Microsoft was doing ok."
In the last 5 years both the Nasdaq and Microsoft have been dogs...
I would like to know why also. As I understand it the Nasdaq has lower standards for stock than the Nyse. Is this something to do with the price of FTR going down closer to 5?
Usually FTR makes advance press releases, on every thing from giving money away to something important, this is important. It is suspicious, in the least.
The expense difference between listing on the nyse and nasdaq, can be as much as 500k a year, if I am not mistaken. There is more than just the listing fee involved. I think Maggie is looking at every single expense and said, look we can save x dollars here, so do it.
Someone else should hunt down the savings between the exchanges, my research could be faulty. I think I once read that the max expense at nyse was 500k, and max a nas was like maybe 75k, something along those lines.
