yup....just a event made to allow those shorts a chance to cover. It seems to me CTL has the same issues that FTR faced over the last year. I think investors will appreciate the fact that FTR already has a head start when it comes to succeeding in this enviroment. Despite the problems FTR experienced investors continued to recieve a nice Divi. while management explored their way in and around this landscape. CTL, WIN will go through the same exact issues, they just held off notifying investors for a year+. Additionally CTL and WIN are even more succeptable to wireless competition. At least FTR is primarly interested/involved in rural telecom which IMO will ultimately give the company strength. FTR sets up shop where Wireless can't/won't.
Everyone has to do what they are comfortable with. Did you listen to the citi global internet, media, telecom conference at FTR web site ??? The take away is the Apple promo has bombed, and the company is going to deploy a new launch strategy. The Hughes deal is working out nicely. The companies focus is on " not loosing customers " and debt pay down. The companies hands are some what tied and they are unable or unwilling to offer cloud, or a stand alone tv offer because the cash flow and earnings, and current debt prevent any capex ramp up. If you listen to that most recent presentation and had no position here, would you initiate one, or pass??? He all but said, yes we will be able to pay debt but nothing else for a few years, well, if we can keep customers.
