I have only had limited interactions with this company in the past but this past weekend I went into the store (on Saturday) to buy a Samsung dishwasher. The HH Gregg price was the same as Sears and Best Buy. Best Buy was offering free delivery and instalation, Went to HH Greggs in hopes of getting a better price. (the dishwasher was $499.99). They told NO DISCOUNT that was the best price so i said ok, I ask them to match the free delivery and instaltaion that Best Buy was offering the salesman refused. He told me i was lieing that nobody offers free instaltion. I showed him the paper and pulled up the Best Buy website on my phone. He still said i was lieing. The salesman then became rude and he said it was "scam". If i wanted the dishwasher then the delivery and instaltion is $169.00. (by the way normal delivery and instalation at Best Buy is only $119.00 $50.00 less then HH Greggs) I ask him again to match the price and he said "we do not ever discount delivery go to Best Buy and get it, they are loosing money on the deal" I did and I am happy with the purchase. By the way they had alot of TV's stacked up. They either anticipate on selling alot or they over bought. I think they over bought since the store was not busy at all.
Whenever a retailer has salespeople that are compensated on profit margins - their interest can easily be juxapositioned to the customer, which is the case here. If the salesperson had matched the deal, he/she would have made no money. Consequently, there is no downside on trashing the customer.
