Thought you would find this interesting....

    IT WAS 1987!

At a lecture the other day they played an old video of Lt. Col. Oliver North testifying
at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree. But what he said
    was stunning!!

He was being drilled by some senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000
    for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes I did Sir."

The Senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't this just a
    little excessive?"

    "No Sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the Senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, Sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the Senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, Sir." Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, Sir." Ollie replied.

At this point the Senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most
people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the Senator
    continued.

"Why are you so afraid of this man?" the Senator asked.

"Because, Sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of," Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the Senator.

"Well. Sir, if it were up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to
eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The Senator disagreed with this approach and that was all that was shown of the clip.

If anyone is interested, the Senator turned out to be none other than Al Gore.

    • The testimony purportedly from Ollie North which has been circulating around the internet has been slightly altered from what he actually said. The terrorist he was concerned about wasn't Osama Bin Laden, who hadn't gotten into the terrorism business quite yet. I believe the correct terrorist name was Abdul Nassar.

Makes for a good urban myth, though...

      • I watched those hearings. That is not what he said. If you are half way interested in the truth of Iran Contra read the memoirs of the man that testified after North: the secretary of state under Reagan, George Schultz. He said that Bush senior lied about his participation in the discussions about the illegal and unconstitutional deals. Bush knew and Reagan knew. Small details, but the truth wont go away and clear evidence that the Democrats were right about the illegal and unconstitutional actions of the whole bunch. I guess Schultz and the Bushes made up because Schultz was one of the wise men who prepped Gov. Bush on foreign affairs. However, such a high ranking official has never been so locked out of party affairs after leaving office. Maybe because he is an honest man. When he put his hand on the bible he told the truth unlike our friend who disgraced his uniform.

    • golly gee Raider you'd think that a film clip like that would be all over the airwaives. and if it wasn't for some reason, rush aand the dittoheads would be giving copies away(for a small donation to cover shipping, production and profit). last time i heard that one it was in transcrip form but nobody could produce the transcript.
did you hear about the spaceship that landed in arizona back on november 3rd 1943. a farmer filmed these creaters coming out....

    • Regan was President, what did he do???? Was Gore elected president ? did I miss something. Was ollie north a convicted felon? was he bin ladens friend, was he trust worthy? are you still on vacation at the ranch? 3000 dead body bags at the white house, no getting around it.
