    bush signs texas electric bill!

REI down 11/16 today !!! What effect will signing
electric bill have on REI stock price and being able to
maintain its Div.????? This electric bill opens up other
    companys to sell
there power to customers and these
customers can choose who they want to buy from. My thought
is that small consumers will stay with who they got
but the big buyers will choose provider. acording to
cheaper price!!! Thanks for Any thoughts on subject.

    • I am served by Alliant Energy here in WI. Our
monthly residential bills recently saw the addition of
new item -- Transmission Cost:. I would assume that
choice is coming, at a price, although I have not seen
the option made avaiable. My guess is that it will
turn out to be much like the marketing blitz for long
      distance telephone carriers.

      Several weeks ago our
interuptable customers were interupted due to lack of
transmission capacity from the Pacific northwest during a heat
wave. Wheeling of electricity may be limited by
delivery problems. I have yet to see any "green"
transmission lines so transmission costs will eat up any cost
savings achieved by buying electricity somewhere else,
      for most customers.
