Frontier missed earnings by 5 cents last quarter 20%... after cutting their dividend from 25 cents in 2010, and 19cents in 2011...they are making now 6cents a share, where did the 15 cents go?.....how does erasure of 15 cents a share not become an increased earnings of 15 cents a share?
I dumped Frontier as soon as Verizon spun it off, because of pension cost and upgrades needed to the outside plant that they bought from Verizon.
CTL missed the last earnings by a penny after cutting a dividend by 20 cents the question is where did the 21 cents go?
I bought CTL and am holding it, based on their share buy back proposition...when is that coming?
VZ made $2.41 in earnings and paid out $2.06 in dividends shouldn’t they raise their measly 3.88% dividend? And at an all time high is this good investment now? I own them too.
OK WIN missed earnings by a penny.. So what? Their earnings are still in the plus column. And judging by the dividend cuts of CTL and Frontier.... Dividend cuts do not increase earnings..
But what I totally disagree with anyone that says WIN is a bad investment but FTR and CTL are good buys...that is just hypocritical either you like the business model or you don’t and of the 3 it seems to me based on these numbers that WIN is the best managed with steady earnings and steady dividend commitment by the CEO and Board of directors.
I gave you the thumbs down but it is a decent conversation at least. You are wrong about this and the short squeeze though. The only reason to hold this stock is if you think the divvy continues or that even with a cut this price is reasonable.
Dr Seus - what are you talking about. Dividends are not an income statement line item, they come right out of equity (balance sheet). Fella, you are in over your head big time you need to get into index funds
Good comments. It seems as though those who short stock have been so beaten up that anything that they can latch on to that might make some money is what they are trying pile onto. That said I see those shorting as making a short term buying opportunity and for those who now buy a possible short squeeze if enough people realize the value there is here. GLTA
