Back in January of 2001 I bought 1,000 shares. Was cheap - around $5 a pop. Thing splits a month later. Nice. Now I hold 32,000 shares. Just sat back and watched. Just this one freaking company has made me a millionaire two times over. I will close half my position out. I will pay my gains and clear the mortgage on my sons house and my daughters condo. I will be aboard a 15 day river cruise on scenic cruise line in the fall. And I will still have 16,000 shares and 500K in the bank! On just this one company.
A theoretically possible story, but unlikely. First of all, GILD was not selling for $5 a share in January of 2001 - it was selling for about $70. (Actually as low as 50 and as high as 83). Since January of 2001, stock splits indeed have turned one share into 32 shares, a fact which no doubt captured this fantasist's imagination.
I don't buy it. I smell BS. You bought 1,000 shares i believe because at 5 dollars that is all you could afford. Nice profit of around 75,000 but don't front like you are a millionaire. We all know you are lying.
I think we need a congressional investigation... we can't let people make money like this. We need to confiscate all your gains and give to people who are uneducated, who don't want to try, who are starving in the streets of this country. This is a sham.
Of course this is tongue in cheek, however, this is what congress wants to do to GILD. They don't want you to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Congrats Northsloperigger... Hope you parlay it into many more millions!!! I need one like that myself.
