Duke names Ambient as their Smart Grid communication system two weeks after saying the are doing smart grid in China
APRIL 15, 2010 WHAT EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR THIS INITIAL DEI'LOYMENT'! For the initial deployment, Duke Energy Indiana plans to use the same vendor set that we are using in our Ohio SmartGrid deployment. Duke Energy Indiana would then be able to gather data on the initial deployment that complements the information gathered in Ohio to date. This strategy allows Duke Energy to build on the knowledge base by leveraging the lessons learned in Ohio, as well as the supporting systems and installation infrastructure that have already been put in place in Ohio. As of today, the Ohio SmartGrid deployment is utilizing Echelon 3.1 meters and Ambient communication nodes, and Duke Energy Indiana will most likely use substantially similar, ifnotthe same, equipment for its initial deployment.
