SAN CARLOS, Calif., February 11, 1999 CellNet
Data Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNDS), a market-leading
provider of fixed-network wireless information services,
today announced that it has launched the CellNet
Application Partners (CAP) Program, designed to facilitate
the integration of energy and other information
collected over CellNet networks with the software and
services of independent software vendors (ISVs). Twelve
companies are currently participating in the program, four
of which will demonstrate their "CellNet-ready"
applications at the DistribuTECH 99 Conference & Exhibition
to be held in San Diego, February 16-18.

CAP Program enables participating companies to
readily integrate Internet-ready data collected over
CellNets wireless networks with their own software
products and services. These products and services, in
turn, add value to the information CellNet provides to
its network customers. Examples of the energy
information services provided by CellNets Application
Partners include detailed energy usage analysis and
    information management; billing management; facility
monitoring; and energy trading, scheduling and forecasting.
An example of an information service provided by
Application Partners to Commercial Data Services customers
includes the delivery of value-added data from distributed
endpoints such as parking meters, photocopiers and vending

"The variety of our Partners applications will give
CellNet customers a broad menu of off-the-shelf,
pre-integrated, proven solutions in order to present data in a
way that meets their specific needs," said Tom Colby,
CellNets vice president of business development. "Our
Application Partners Program also opens a new channel for
CellNet to market its wireless data services, with our
Partners applications serving as value-added information
conduits between CellNet and other service providers, such
as energy providers. This program is designed to be
a win for CellNet, for our CAP members, and for the

"In addition," continued Colby, "CAP cultivates
mutually beneficial relationships between CellNet and
innovative companies who serve the same markets. We look
forward to working with our existing partners to develop
and market their CellNet-ready applications, as
well as to bringing more companies on board."
