Smart move if they could get the signal "up there"; maybe when Canada happens, it'll be high enough for you Alaskans! I'd imagine that 1/2 to 1/3 or all Alaskans would buy it if they could receive the signal. Maybe "transmitters" would be the answer...in fact, all along the Alaska highway, with all the RV traffic, it's a NATURAL! Some of you "tech-ies", fill-us-in on what it would take to get the signal to Alaska!
The signals do reach Alaska, I think the issue is an FCC one. During the Iraqi war we(Alaska) received the signals loud and clear. Even now you can receive a solid signal about 40% of the time. If a Sat radio is purchased here it can not be activated, so one has to activate it in the lower 48...weird.
Apparently you havent listened to any of those stations or you would know what I was talking about. Alaska radio content is extremely limited, and quadruple, try driving 30 min out of Anchorage, you would be lucky to get 1 am station...apparently your not a very good research detective. Alaska would be perfect for Sat Radio.
