The National Football League and Sirius Satellite Radio signed a seven-year agreement for Sirius to broadcast all NFL games live nationwide, and for Sirius to become the Official Satellite Radio Partner of the National Football League, with exclusive rights to use the NFL "shield" logo and collective NFL team trademarks.
Beginning this season, Sirius will carry the entire regular season as well as select preseason matchups and playoff games. Sirius NFL Radio will begin its coverage of the National Football League with a staged launch on July 7 that will include a 32-team NFL preview for the 2004 season. Each preview will feature an interview with either a head coach or a star player from that team.
The staged launch will be followed by the live launch of Sirius NFL Radio's 24-hour talk channel, which will coincide with the start of training camps.
Shows hosted by current and former NFL players will be featured on Sirius NFL Radio while many former and current head coaches will also weigh in. It promises to be your radio home for the latest NFL news brought to you by experts who know the game inside and out.
NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said, "Sirius has a strong commitment to sports broadcasting. We look forward to the great new programming that will be available to NFL fans on Sirius. Our partnership with Sirius provides all fans nationwide with another way to stay in touch with their favorite teams."
A complete schedule of games will be available in the coming weeks.
