even if they go bankrupt the company will still be an ongoing entity. just all the stockholder equity will go away and they get to throw out the labor agreements. and the debt holders will take over the company. siri radios will still be installed and sold as it is a high demand item. it might actually make the siri radios ultimately sell even better as gm cars would be four grand cheaper per vehicle if they can get rid of much of their baggage and too high labor costs.
i hope more cash isnt just thrown at them, as Pelosi seems to want to do--They obviously arent in good shape, they need to totally restructure, drop some union contracts which are a major issue--The unions arent in the drivers seat here as they lose EVERYTHING if bankruptsy occurs
Letting the U.S. auto industry fail is NOT an option; THEY should be given as much consideration as the banks, BUT, this should be done as LOANS, with oversight conditions, I.E., there need to be strict provisions re: exec salaries= NO bonusses until progress is made and, perhaps even a few salary 10% cuts until progress is shown, ETC., JMHO, BUT, if the U.S. auto industry fails, it'll be disastrous to a lot more business than satrad!
