I don't think it's a big blow to SIRI to lose Stern. 100mil. right to the bottom line. I guess my point is he WAS the big picture 5-years ago. Not any more. The big picture is to get the house in order so this puppy can take on the world. With Libertys deep pockets and steady but slow style i'm bettin it happens. I got time to wait.
Stern is a non-issue. I'm not a fan, but acknowledge his ability to create controversy. This translates to conversations around the water cooler which spreads word of mouth for Sirius.
But, truth be told, ("like it or not") just as many people love him as hate him. Whatever happens when his contract expires will be a washout.
It's not talent, but "content" that makes SIRI valuable. Talent is in the eye of the beholder. Content gives listeners the choice to "behold" whomever each feels has that talent.
Also, Sirius is a big part of the current multimedia everything at your fingertips trend: music, talk, video, navigation.
We are so far ahead of the game....we have to wait for everyone else to catch up. In the meantime..buy dips.
Long since 67 cents...and holding, until everybody knows what we all know.
I tend to agree. I feel that Stern is passed his peak st least as far as bringing new subs. But I don't think it's a wash to the bottom line. I think it'a a win-win either way as long as the new pay package is more in line with todays market place.
"People LOVE to hate Stern. But he's the draw."
People USED to love to hate Stern. He's been in the abyss for years and has done nothing during thise long years to correct siri's NEGATIVE Retail sales. Rarely is he ever mentioned.... anywhere. He's not a draw. People still carry a disdain for him and don't want an UNCENSORED Stern in their family life. He brings a negative label to Sirius. Many associate Sirius with only Stern and don't focus on the other 'good' things Sirius has to offer.
As the Sirius Poster Boy he turns far more potential subscribers away then he draws.
Not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone. But if the success or failure of SIRI depends on Stern than we are sirius trouble.
A good business plan, global expansion, growing subscriber base, refinancing of debt and loyal stock holders will steadily move us in the right direction.
But you are right about HS, aren't we talking about him right now? Definately a draw.
