    • you are willing to wait until the next cycle.
Seems like an awful long time for this small stock.

What about the effects of the Asian crisis, this is
just starting to impact the companies in the U.S.
Demand for agricultural products will decline because
Asia will not be able to pay for them. Why would
farmers want to risk buying a new tractor now. That's the
downside. On the upside, AG has better margins on its
replacement business in the area of 35% compared to 10% on
farm equipment. What do you think.

    • i remember when home depot stood still in the
water for at least 2 years, i also remember when ko
stood in the water for an extended period of time. many
stocks have periods in which they have little movement
over time. MY POINT IS THAT THE TIME SHOULD BE NEAR
FOR AGCO TO START MOVING UP TO FAIR VALUE.

    • Both color has a resistance to recession!!
You don't need sell HD to buy AG. Here, I not talk about trad AG AT PE level as same as HD. Just fair value at PE 15.

    • How can you compare coke and home depot to little
      ol' AGCO.

The company's p/e reflects the fact
that the market fears the fact that after 8 years of a
bull run, the economy may soon find itself in a
recession. No one wants to own a tractor company in a
recession. This company will continue to sell at a
discounted P/E relative to case and deere.

    • Thanks for your encouragment. I try to understand
what is happen for AGCO and read this Q earning
again," The Company recorded net income for the three
months ended March 31, 1998 of $32.7 million compared to
$25.7 million for the same period in 1997. Net income
per common share on a diluted basis was $0.52 and
$0.44 for the first quarter of 1998 and 1997,
respectively." That is 28% increas on the income and 18% increas
      for per share earning base.
      Think about the
factor, for S & P 500 stock trading PE is above 20. This
one is under 10. If ,in very conserve base, trad at
PE 15, AG stock price should be $40.
      Home depo
report earning was 20% increas, the stock was up $3
today! Wall street ( money street) will come soon!

    • while many of the tech stocks are being manipulated, maybe wallstreet will wake up and see that this growing, dull tractor company has a growth rate comparable to many of the high flyers.

    • There are a lot of good company like home depo, Coko Colo, HBO &c
Delta air line..... But no of them has PE below 10, probably all of them PE over 50 to 100. It real show that AG is under value!!

    • agco is a solid company. even the atlanta journal
      - constitution can get something correct sometimes.
how many solid companies are there with a p/e of less
than 10. a review of the charts lead one to believe
that this stock has reached it's lows. please respond.

    • Just don't understand the price performance of this stock. Good earnings, low P/E, seems like an excellent value play to me, but the stock can't get out of its own way. Any insight out there?

      Long 800 at 25 per.

      • I am long 600 in AG and can't help but think that
the market will wake up and notice this Co. someday
soon. The only thing a person do is wait and see. If
earnings keep growing the stock will react eventually

      • Earnings should be out next week. Let's hope for something favorable. CSE DE showing stronger market interest. I still believe that AG is a sleeper, but somewhat disapointed at recent market non-reaction. Note, this company is controlled by a half-dozen institutional shareholders that participated inthe IPO. I will attend shareholders meeting in Duluth to see what Ratliff has to say about future markets and prospects.....hang tight!
