Google bought the IBM patents in mid July. News that IDCC was exporing strategic alternatives didn't break until 7/19. It appears the purchase of the IBM patents does not dismiss Googs interest in IDCC.
The IBM patent buys from earlier this month have nothing to do with Interdigital saying it is looking at alternatives after that date, or with Google looking over Interdigital after that date either.Google will probably make the first bid for them soon, but it will probably be a low bid, like they did for Nortel, topped almost immediately by Apple.
Miguel,What you say may happen; however, it is a losing strategy - IMHO.GOOG should make a "shock and awre" bid to stun the other bidders, and to capture the intellectual property prize. To do otherwise will be to pay more, or to lose future market opportiunities.Sorta like buying on FleaPay. Sometimes the "buy it now" option is the best and cheapest option for getting what you want.IMHO - Tomcat
