They are two different types of company. One is purely doing researching and designing and other is doing everything including manufacturing and servicing.
But for similar wireless patent portfolios, IDCC may have a upper hand advantage compared to Q's because IDCC is an older company plus they won a case against Q couples years ago. Just a thought!
