Although I am not expecting any disclosure next week...

    right?
    I love to short.
95% of my trading is shorting, but this is one stock I would not want to be shorting.
If even a sniff of a buyout is mentioned over the weekend, this thing will catch fire.
True, we are taking a beating last 2 days, I believe MM's are trying to get this lower so they can load up-next week we will be golden.

I'd like to pose a ? to you: "do you feel there is as much manipulation as people rumor there to be??"

Just wondering what your view is on that.

      thanks!

      • LD,

No, I do not. I know that market makers do not get together and decide to do this or that. In fact they are all competing with one another for customer orders and best execution. What I am certain of, however, is that HFT's dominate the trading in names like IDCC, and without any preconceived desire to "maniplate," they grossly distort the short term movements of the share price from what those would be if only natural buyers and natural sellers were determining price.

I have done a lot of work on TA, trying to statistically validate causality, and have concluded that except for varying degrees of auto-correlation, most TA "rules" are nothing more than urban myths. This is particularly true now that HFT's typically generate two-thirds of each day's trading volume. Perhaps, this is what retail investors refer to as manipulation. Today, you cannot discern anything about a stock's futue price movement from its short term patterns, which are largely defined by the HFT's.
