Alpha had an article saying IDCC may be worth $5B in the sale. Might be too high making stock price over $125.
Then there is a big percentage of shorts betting the auction will not bring in a high value over today's price of 60-65.
Any clues how the auction will turn out?
Big comedown when it was first announced in July, went to 80+, then Google's MMI purchase deflated (they were rumored buyers).
Appears sellout price will be in a range of 70-75, or if lowball, no sellout.
For that price..I can guarantee You there will be no buy out.
IDCC requires a much higher premium.
Easily a double or more from the share price You quoted.
Get real!
Yes..that would be nice. I'm pretty sure whatever I make in IDCC (hopefully something)..I'm going full into APPLE.....then I can relax, and pull myself away from the investing...it should be a sweet ride to who knows where it could go.
With all the litigation between Apple and Samsung, I would suspect both would both be very keen on on outbidding each other for IDCC in order to gain the upper hand.
Since we're talking conjecture here, I believe Qualcomm has the most to benefit as an IDCC acquisition would consolidate the majority of patents with them, thereby accelerating their current business model.
I love seeing posts on the Yahoo FB boards since they are all over the place, but the longer this drags out, the better I see this for IDCC.
I'll say one thing, Apple: You bought AAPL at one of the lowest PEs ever paid for a world class cutting edge technology company. Its price is high, but related to earnings and cash in the bank it is dirt cheap.
I hope they spend about $10B of that cash on InterDigital and make you rich two ways!
No chance they sell for under $100 so if you believe thats the case $70-$75 then this will drop to low $50's as there will be no deal. I personally believe they will get between $4.5 and $6 billion. Remember they have $700 million in cash so that would be $3.8-$5.3.
If it turns out there is no deal look for the stock price to drop to the 40's real quick.
