IDCC committed to discuss the future of large IP acquisitions next June in Portugal

IDCC Vice-President of IP and licensing will participate (see below):

The speaking faculty for this year’s IP Business Congress – which is taking place in Cascais, near Lisbon, Portugal, from 24th to 26th June – is filling up very nicely. We already have a number of top names confirmed and you can expect quite a few more to be added over the coming months. Given all that happened in the IP market during 2011, and what is yet to come, there will be plenty to talk about.

There are a number of mouth-watering sessions to look forward to. Among them is the second plenary scheduled for the morning of 26th June. This is entitled “The future of large IP acquisitions” and will cover the developing IP transactions marketplace, including perspectives from corporate buyers and sellers, as well as the views of the investment and banking sectors on IP as a driver of M&As and other deals. In addition, panellists will be looking at types of transactions (straight sales, auctions etc) and exploring hot issues such as post-acquisition integration, determining price versus value, competition and other challenges. Hopefully, there will also be time to discuss the next battlefields for IP in terms of new markets and new geographies.

The confirmed participants in the session certainly know their onions. It will be moderated by Peter Hoden, head of the IP investment group at Coller Capital; while the panellists so far lined-up are Ruud Peters, executive vice-president and chief IP officer of Philips; Naveen Nataraj, senior managing director of Evercore; Brian Hinman, vice-president of IP and licensing at InterDigital; and David Descoteaux, managing director, Lazard. There will be one or two more there by the time we get to Portugal and it should be a thought-provoking and highly informative 90 minutes.

    • But I thought Lind said the patent buying horizon had passes? Oh that's right, I forgot, he is completely clueless.
