SciClone Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Message Board

    Get on board now...

Just doing some comparative research, and
compared to other companies with similarly valued
pipelines, SCLN's marketcap is still significantly
undervalued. I know that's difficult to believe, but with
recent stock valuations and the interest in biotech, we
still have a long way to go. Anyone looking to get in
should do it now because there aren't many "sleepers"
left in the biotech sector. Anyone have any
    information about institutional accummulation?

    • just getting approval in japan or the usa will
change the landscape of this company...when a drug is
approved...physicians will use it whether or not it is approved yet for
a specific indication...the studies in the
literature will dictate that..so if it is first approved for
hep..and studies show its success combined with cancer
drugs or in a cocktail with aids drug...zadaxin use
will explode.....with all this potential...admire the
$6 a share price..there should be an asteriks next
      to it (screaming sale)

    • I am sorry that I am not knowledgable enough to
answer your questions at the end of your post. I really
do not know the answers to any of them. I would
suggest that you try to post them on the Enzon board and
specifically that you title your post as a question to
"dbegley" since he is extraordinarily knowledgable about
      the company. good luck.

    • This is great info. I will check out the other
board. I heard about a recent mtg with NIH where there
were discussion about changing dosages and the drugs
to improve tolerance and effectivness. I go to
traditional Dr.s at this pt only for tests. They can be so
ingnorant and infuriating. I have wanted to get my health
as good as possible and waiting for the drugs to
improve before even getting a biopsy. When I see
something I am willing to try then I will get that. I think
it is pretty bad and I am relying on this organ to
regenerate hopefully cirrosis isn't to progressed. Someday I
      will know for sure.

      Question: what is the
Schering=Plough connection with SCLN? I heard something in
England about them having some type of connection that
allows them to prevent the distibution of Thymosin but
then I have read here that they help distribute it in
Europe. Will Thymosin be used with Enzon's version?

    • I appreciate the advice. I understand the clock
may be ticking now. But, there's got to be a market
      for the product...a substantial market.
      After all,
that's what we're all buying into SciClone for...right?
I have my doubts about market size, but I do intend
to speak to the first patent attorney, sharpjd, to
      check things out.

    • Nauga13,

I see that you have begun a
discussion with a patent attorney who is giving you some
good advice. I too am a patent attorney (in the
mechanical and electrical arts) and would strongly encourage
you to contact Sharpjd assuming that he has a
chemical/pharma background. Your description of the combination
of elements may have already begun a one year clock
in the U.S. Patents Office and you may have already
barred yourself from foreign patent protection (maybe
not, however, depending upon the invention as finally
claimed/drafted). Do yourself a favor and waste no time in making
an application before the USPTO - Even if it is a
      provisional patent application.

    • Of Zadaxin market. It all depends on how effective
Zadaxin is.If other product for hepatitis B.and C. have
more side effect than ZadaxinI believe Zadaxin market
share will be a lot bigger than the company
      estimated.

    • I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with Hep.
C on a personal level. My prayers are with you. I
am sure that you are probably already aware of this,
but I figured I'd post it just in case. Another
company I invest in, Enzon, located in Piscataway, New
Jersey, is currently in Phase 3 research, funded by
Schering-Plough, for an improved form of current Hep.C therapy.
Enzon's version involves a special coating on the
molecule of the drug to make it last longer and be more
easily tolerated by patients. Because of this, it has
only to be taken a couple of times a week (I believe)
and is more effective with fewer side effects. You
can check out more info. if you visit the Enzon board
at Yahoo. Posts by dbegley are especially informed
and helpful. Anyway, I hope that when this is
approved (as I certainly hope it is as an investor!), that
you are able to take advantage of the drug if it is
recommended for you by your doctor. Good luck in toughing
this out, and my prayers for an eventual (and soon!)
cure for you. Happy New Year to all! I am signing off
now and getting a life!!! :o)

    • In a Sept 1998 letter to shareholders, which CEO
Sellers termed an interim report,he stated "we believe
the market potential for Zadaxin in the USA and
      Europe is $250-300 million EACH".

      On CPX "We
believe the potential U.S. market for CPX could average
$200 million annually with a similar potential in
      Europe"

The above were forward looking statements, naturally,
but they were in the letter.

      I wish everyone
      a healthy,happy and prosperous 2000(in that
      order).

Now back to listening to Louis Prima, Keely Smith and
Sam Butera and the witnesses. What a great CD.
