So whats the risk of flip chip tech. turning this company into a big buggy whip factory?

I'm long several thousand shares - largely as a value play. I'm concerned about their tech and the possibility they may make a bad acquisition in search of advanced pack. Just asking. Thanks

    Sentiment: Hold

    • They already made a bad attempt years ago with flip chip which they sold at a terrible loss - one of several missteps in the past.

The death of the ball bonder has been predicted to be a few years out for the entire 15 years I've been investing and trading KLIC. I've made a TON of money since those first rumors.

Bruno discussed it again on one of the last calls. Actually I think it was part of an answer about copper saturation and copper's prospects.

The best thing I have to say about Bruno so far - is that he hasn't made any aquisition to put his own stamp on the company.

If he were an idiot he's be buying like crazy, spending that cash, so he could continue to bleed KLIC for years to come. Because without that cash KLIC would be less of a buyout target. A VERY firmilar theme with small caps unfortunately. Well, to me he'd be an idiot. For himself he may do well.

To me the first thing new mgmt should do is "do no harm" and so far it looks like Bruno is following that motto - so far. They have stated on a few calls that they were actively looking for aquisitions in all area's. The fact that they haven't done anything yet helps me feel more confident about Bruno. If something is purchased hopefully it won't be basically a writeoff in a few years like the last several attempts at diversification have been under prior mgmt.
