I am not a fan or foe of CompUSA but I bet more looses are on the way before their previous growth..CompUSA had it made..a new concept in a hot market..That market grew and grew. Now that it is maturing, lets see how CompUSA does in the next 8 quarters..Tandy, decided to get back to what they do best..Radio Shack only....
Last year they failed with Incredible Universe. Now they have sold Computer City. This group cannot manage against strong competition. Radio Shack is vulnerable to other electronic stores and even big box stores like Home Depot( if they ever wanted to expand their electronic product lines). What has this group done right in the last 5 years.
The rebate offered by Sprint PCS through Radio Shack on the Samsung phone is a fraud. I have not gotten my rebate on time and everytime I call, they tell me to wait a few more weeks. Do not buy the Sprint PCS phone through Radio Shack if you expect a rebate according to their contract.
Well maybe they didn,t hire him as He headed an investor group and bought into Computer City with an option to take it out. The management of CPU and their board knew that any company that Morton was associated with should be easy to turnaround as he nearly destroyed CPU ironic as he also helped build it. This is a great sale for TAN and also a great acquisition for CPU . This will set them way in front of the competition as the only computer retail and service center in the major markets a virtual steal from a marketing point of view. Also good for TAN as they can not run a retail enterprise that is highly competitive.
